Greater New Haven CVB Prepares for Trade Show Season
Fall is trade show season for the GNHCVB. The staff is busy packing & shipping boxes of Visitor Guides, giveaway items and trade show displays to national and international locations. The Bureau’s Sports Marketing Manager, Tangier Pritchett is preparing for two shows. Pritchett will be attending TEAMS (Travel, Event and Management in Sport) Conference & Expo in Pittsburgh, PA from October 22-24. TEAMS offer unique one-on-one appointment sessions allowing quality face time with event organizers. The AAU convention welcomes over 500 attendees and includes exhibit time for destinations. President/CEO Ginny Kozlowski will be in Portland, OR from October 27-30 for the Travel Industry Association (TIA) Marketing Outlook Forum and no sooner returns, to head back out, to represent Connecticut tourism at the World Travel Market (WTM) in London from November 8-14. In the months to follow, sales contacts from these trade shows will be shared with hotel partners. Watch for leads!
New Hotels Open Doors to Guests
During this recent summer the Greater New Haven CVB had the opportunity to host two major media outlets: The New York Daily News and AAA Home & Away Magazine. Travel writers were escorted to various tourist hot spots to experience New Haven first-hand. Daily News travel editor, Paul Schultz was fascinated with the Yale campus tour and delicious Pepe’s pizza – the likes of which he is yet to find in New York City. AAA Regional Editor, Lindsey Baker was equally impressed with the Yale Art Gallery and Yale Center for British Art, as she explored the New Haven portion of the Connecticut Art Trail. Both articles will feature the region in months to come. The GNHCVB will be sure to send constituents the link to the articles as soon as they are available. Many thanks to the Omni New Haven Hotel at Yale, Frank Pepe’s Pizzeria, Claire’s Corner Copia, Long Wharf Theatre, Yale Art Gallery, Yale Center for British Art and Yale Visitors Center for making special arrangements.

Market New Haven Sets Table for New Haven Restaurant Week
New Haven will host its first-ever New Haven Restaurant Week from November 9 to 14. The six day celebration of New Haven’s rich and varied restaurant scene will showcase 18 notable restaurants such as Barcelona, Bentara, Caseus, Union League Café and Zinc, to name a few.

Event organizers have arranged a prix fixe lunch of $16.38, which represents the year the city was founded, and dinner menus at $29; both prices are exclusive of beverage, tax and gratuity."We are proud of New Haven's revitalized downtown and booming culinary scene, which this inaugural event is intended to showcase," said Mayor John DeStefano, Jr. "Given the current economy, this event is also a huge value to visitors who can now experience some of the most innovative cuisine in New England for only a fraction of the cost,” he added.
