The Greater New
Haven CVB staff returned from several trips this month and unpacked new
prospect lists and new industry opportunities. Here is a summary of
the trade shows attended:
President/CEO Ginny
Kozlowski returned Saturday from the World Travel Market (WTM) held in
London, representing the State of Connecticut. "We had the
opportunity to meet with an increased number of tour operators and media
representatives this year. We'll be sending out the prospect list as soon
as it is compiled," said Kozlowski.
Prior to WTM,
Kozlowski took lots of notes at Travel Industry Association (TIA)
Marketing Outlook forum held in Porland, OR. TIA's Marketing Outlook
Forum, described as one of the industry's best values, features the most
up-to-date industry forecasts, new market research, outlooks for all
sectors and leading marketing practices, along with practical insight
from the industry's leaders. Of particular interest to
constituents is this Outlook for the Packaged Travel Industry.
Sports
Sales Manager Tangier Pritchett unpacked bid packets and business cards
after attending TEAMS (Travel, Event and Management in Sport) Conference
& Expo in Pittsburgh, PA from October 22-24 and the 121st AAU
National Convention held in Cancun, Mexico from October 26-30.
"We already have a site visit in the works with one of the
AAU representatives," Pritchett reported.

New Haven Restaurant Week: No reservations about planning
this event again!
While
it is too early to report the number of tables filled last week during
New Haven's inaugural Restaurant Week, the preliminary feedback from
restauranteurs and event planners, indicate it was a successful
promotion for downtown. Market New Haven (MNH), along with 18 downtown
restaurants coordinated the first New Haven Restaurant Week from
November 9 through 14. In the weeks to come, MNH wil be able to evaluate
the outcome of the well-received promotion.
The Greater New Haven Convention & Visitors
Bureau helped out MNH with their press trip and
coordinated a photo shoot at two of the participating restaurants during
the weeklong event. A contributing travel writer with USA Today extended
her visit to New Haven by touring Hammonasset Beach State
Park. She wanted to explore the wealth of options for travelers to
Greater New Haven.
"We were glad to be of assistance and figured it was a
great week to get vibrant photography of busy restaurants," said
Ginny Kozlowski, president/CEO of GNHCVB. "We are thankful to
Jean Pierre Vuillermet of Union League and Ming Lau of Miso for
allowing us to photograph on such a busy night," said
Kozlowski.
