Travel Writer Visit in December
Results in Newsday Coverage in January
Last
month the Greater New Haven CVB set aside the day's plans to respond to a
request by a freelance writer on assignment for Newsday.com in
search of a winter getaway story complete with arts and
culture. Travel journalists Malerie Yolen-Cohen no sooner called
the Bureau and a day later had an itinerary mapped out that included
visits to two hotels, two museums, three theaters and two restaurants.
Despite the unrelenting rain Yolen-Cohen enjoyed her day-long visit and
had the opportunity to "interview" over a dozen New Haven
tourism partners. Yolen-Cohen wrote, "All this makes New Haven a
steal for those in pursuit of epicurean and intellectual delights."
We could not have said it better ourselves. For the complete story click here.
WFSB TV 3 Better Connecticut
Features New Haven
The popular daytime
program Better Connecticut on WFSB TV 3 invited Ginny Kozlowski, President/CEO
of GNHCVB to appear live to promote the New Year's Eve packages in the
region. The 4 minutes and 29 seconds of video airtime was
packed with great information on hotel packages, including several
references to the Visit New Haven website. For a look at
the full coverage click here.
In addition, the Boston WFSB ABC affiliate aired the segment on WCVB.

Help Make the Most of Well
Spent Advertising Dollars
The GNHCVB stongly encourages the
restaurants, hotels and attractions in our region
to build business alliances and create value added
getaway packages so that we can continue to refresh the information
on our Website and attract visitors to Greater New Haven. These
packages will not collect dust on a display rack, as the CVB is actively
promoting Winter Getaway Packages to our database of consumers. In recent
months the CVB received more than 2,500 requests for the Winter
Getaway package brochure. Click here to see the current information.
Additionally the GNHCVB, Market New Haven, Mystic Country
and the Fairfield County CVB combined marketing dollars for a cooperative
advertising campaign in the The
New York Times, Escapes section. The first insertions ran
last Friday and Sunday and will continue through February
22. The ads direct potential visitors to our respective
Websites.
The www.visitNewHaven.com
link directs users to "Winter Getaway Packages." This
is where hotels, restaurants and attractions in the region can really
benefit. If you would like to sell more rooms this winter send your
Winter Getaway Package to Barbara Malmberg

Sports Bids & Leads, Signed, Sealed and Delivered by
GNHCVB
The month of December
was filled with more than holiday events in Greater New
Haven. GNHCVB Sports Marketing Manger, Tangier Pritchett was
coordinating and formulating official bid packets for potential sporting
events in 2010, 2011 and beyond. After calling and meeting with
local representatives for the sport of fencing and taekwondo, Pritchett
gathered the necessary facts and figures for the required
documents. "The next step is to invite the various bid
selection committees to come and see our wonderful sports facitities and
to experience New Haven hospitality first-hand," said
Pritchett.
Also during this
last quarter, Pritchett sent 27 sales leads to hotels partners for both
meetings, conferences and sports events that represent a potential
of more than 10,000 room nights.
