US AIRWAYS MAGAZINE STAFF MEETS WITH LOCAL BUSINESS LEADERS
TO PLAN NEW HAVEN PROFILE

One of the most comprehensive international media presentations of New Haven will be onboard US Airways flights in October 2008.

The US Airways Magazine representatives have been meeting with business leaders from Yale University, The City of New Haven, the Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce, Market New Haven and the Greater New Haven Convention & Visitors Bureau to coordinate a 30 plus page profile on New Haven. The in-flight magazine will be distributed on more than 4,386 daily flights to 200 cities in 36 countries and will be set before more than 5.8 million travelers who fly regularly on US Airways.

“In short, this may be the most comprehensive international media presentation of New Haven our community has seen. From a business perspective, it is a convenient and first class way to reach a large and affluent business and leisure audience,” said Tony Rescigno, President of the Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce.

By now many community members have been contacted regarding editorial and advertising opportunities. Although the ad deadline looms there is still a chance to get your message out: Contact Carsten Morgan, a representative of US Airways Magazine at Carsten.Morgan@verizon.net or (610) 438-1190, or Lisa Watts, Lead Editor, Destination Publishing Group, Pace Communications at lisa.watts@paceco.com or by phone at (336) 383-5568.

“We thank the many businesses that have already committed to supporting this in-depth editorial feature,” said Ginny Kozlowski, President/CEO of the GNHCVB.

TRAVEL EDITORS WITH NEW YORK DAILY NEWS AND AAA HOME & AWAY MAGAZINE
VISIT NEW HAVEN AREA FOR STORY CONTENT
During this recent summer the Greater New Haven CVB had the opportunity to host two major media outlets: The New York Daily News and AAA Home & Away Magazine. Travel writers were escorted to various tourist hot spots to experience New Haven first-hand. Daily News travel editor, Paul Schultz was fascinated with the Yale campus tour and delicious Pepe’s pizza – the likes of which he is yet to find in New York City. AAA Regional Editor, Lindsey Baker was equally impressed with the Yale Art Gallery and Yale Center for British Art, as she explored the New Haven portion of the Connecticut Art Trail (www.artrail.org/museums). Both articles will feature the region in months to come. The GNHCVB will be sure to send constituents the link to the articles as soon as they are available. Many thanks to the Omni New Haven Hotel at Yale, Frank Pepe’s Pizzeria, Claire’s Corner Copia, Long Wharf Theatre, Yale Art Gallery, Yale Center for British Art and Yale Visitors Center for making special arrangements.
